Micro bangs are not so much an art as they are a science, trimmed precisely between the hairline and the tops of the brows.
Greta Lee opted for mid-length fringe at the “Toy Story 5” launch event in London on Thursday, celebrating the film’s highly anticipated premiere on June 19 with her castmates Tom Hanks (Woody), Tim Allen (Buzz Lightyear) and Joan Cusack (Jessie).
Outside Odeon Luxe Leicester Square, Lee’s freshly trimmed bangs, cut and styled by Jenny Cho, sat about an inch above her sculpted brows. The rest of her hair was kept straight, with inky ends trailing halfway down her back.

While the bangs may have been a new addition to her modern-day look, this was far from Lee’s first time sporting the trendy haircut. In fact, the “Past Lives” actress has donned several styles, shapes and silhouettes over the years, always returning to the mid-length cut before putting her bangs to bed for a few months. Her most notable bang display took place at the 2024 Met Gala, celebrating “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.” Here, she took an ’80s-inspired rough cut approach, pairing a pixie cut with uneven fringe that barely made it past her hairline.
This was something of a harbinger of the trend on the same carpet a year later, led by the likes of Pamela Anderson, Ayo Edebiri and Zoe Saldaña. Since then, micro bangs have climbed the ladder of virality, finding their place on almost every major red carpet for the last year. Interest in the “bang and bob” duo has also burgeoned thanks to Anderson and Edebiri, who’ve routinely returned to the refined cut of irrevocable film stars such as Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor and Natalie Wood.
Speaking with WWD in April, Moroccanoil stylist ambassador Owen Gould may have left micro bangs out of his summer hair predictions, but he did cast his vote for the “bixie.” It’s the cut seen and heard around Hollywood — a little bit of bob, a little bit of pixie. “It’s polished but still feels lived-in, like you woke up chic,” said Gould.
Back at the “Toy Story 5” event in London, Lee embellished the red hue of her Jessie-inspired High Sport halterneck gown with a statement-making red lip, blushed cheeks and a touch of mascara courtesy of makeup artist Nina Park. Accessorized with pointed-toe white pumps, the dress featured a scatter plot of shooting stars and red fringe along the bottom trim.
